The Lansdowne Monument on Cherhill Down, Wiltshire. The obelisk was designed by Sir Charles Barry (1795-1860) and was erected in 1845 by the 3rd Earl of Lansdowne in memory of his ancestor Sir William Petty (1623-87). It was restored by the National Trust
