Battle of the Herrings display by Coakley-Green Fishmongers, Market Hall, Swansea. Memorial to Sir John Fastolf who took herrings (and military supplies!) to soldiers laying siege to Rouvay-Saint-Croix during the 100 Years War in 1429. It was just before Lent, hence the fish and the odd name of the battle that ensued when the French attempted to intercept the convoy.
