John Knill Steeple ceremony, or John Knill’s Charity, Cornwall. Held every five years, Photo 1981. John Knill, a mayor of St Ives in 1767, built the steeple, a fifty-foot high pyramid on Worvas Hill just outside the town, and devised the ceremony and charitable doles to ensure his remembrance
