The Rufus Stone, in the New Forest, Hampshire. This marks the spot where King William II, called Rufus because of his ruddy complexion, was accidentally killed by an arrow shot by Sir William Tyrrall in 1100. The original stone marker erected in 1745 was replaced in 1841
