Longdon-on-Tern Aqueduct near Telford, built by Thomas Telford in 1797, the world’s first cast-iron aqueduct - the Shrewsbury Canal closed in 1944 and for years the aqueduct was a farm bridge, though it is now recognised as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Photo 1987)
