Longdon-on-Tern Aqueduct near Telford was a cast iron trough, by Thomas Telford (1797) which took the Shrewsbury Canal over the R Tern until the canal closed in 1944. Now a much preserved Ancient Monument it was a practical farm bridge in 1974
