‘Chirk Aqueduct’ by Henry Gastineau, c1830. The aqueduct was built by Thomas Telford in 1801 to take the Llangollen Canal over the River Ceiriog near the Welsh Border. A matching but taller Chirk railway Viaduct followed alongside in 1858
