The 15th century ‘Auld Brig o’Doon’ in Alloway, South Ayrshire, (Old Bridge over the Doon to non-Scots speakers) was made famous by Robert Burns in his poem Tam o’Shanter - now heavily preserved in honour of the great poet who was born in Alloway.
