Few people need to be told about nativity plays, so beloved of primary schools at Christmastide. All these pictures were taken at three schools in North London in the mid-eighties, when nativity plays were an essential part of the pre-Christmas festivities. Nowadays schools worry about offending non-Christian children and parents and the custom has been in decline. Collections thinks it is probably fair to surmise that neither the children nor the parents themselves are much bothered.
